A suggestion from Chiwa Chiwa about what to do when you have a kimono that seems to be in its own color zip code. Knock it out with a neutral!

Kimono like this one are a real challenge to work with. They require a lot more attention to color saturation and pattern density. The detail at the bottom of this obi does a good job matching the light linework in the kimono itself, and the center stripe keeps the white from being too wide and ‘fat looking’. I think a wide obijime of any color in the kimono— blue, green, gold, maybe dark orange— would help make the obi look narrower and the kimono less hectic.
